Brindle is a pup like many others in Ecuador. Born in an open field in the outskirts of the town of Cotacachi, she grew up being cared for by the children who go to a nearby school, and fed by individuals who live near the field. When Brindle was born, two of her male siblings were taken by individuals looking to welcome a dog into their families. When there is no access to veterinary care, and no alternatives to humanely stop reproduction, male dogs and cats are usually preferred and get adopted more quickly, while the females stay in the streets and continue to give birth to litter after litter of puppies. Brindle was no exception.
