The Need for a New Veterinary Hospital for Amici Cannis: Enhancing Animal Welfare and Community Health

Amici Cannis is committed to the health and well-being of both animals and the community. As we continue to serve an increasing number of owned and unowned dogs and cats, it has become clear that the need for a new, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital is vital. This hospital will not only provide essential care but will also allow us to enhance our veterinary student externship program, creating a training center that will shape the future of veterinary medicine.

In 2024, Amici Cannis saw a significant increase in our impact within the community. We doubled the number of animals spayed/neutered and vaccinated, addressing crucial aspects of public health and animal welfare. Additionally, we tripled the number of students that participated in our Be Kind education program, expanding our reach and fostering empathy and responsibility toward animals in the next generation. These efforts, alongside our expanding services, showcase our commitment to growth, education, and improving the lives of animals and humans alike.

Our new facility will feature a 24/7 emergency veterinary service, ensuring that animals in need receive immediate, round-the-clock care. Emergency services are often the first line of defense in saving lives and preventing further harm, and this new hospital will provide the necessary infrastructure to handle urgent cases more efficiently. With the capacity to handle a higher volume of patients and perform a greater number of procedures, we can offer more comprehensive care to our growing client base.

A crucial part of this new hospital’s design is the inclusion of a residence and training center for veterinary students. By incorporating a dedicated space for learning and hands-on experience, we can further our commitment to educating the next generation of veterinarians. The externship program will be an invaluable resource, providing students with exposure to a wide range of cases and medical procedures. This hands-on training will help develop the skills necessary for them to thrive in the field, ultimately improving the quality of veterinary care across the industry.

Our hospital’s growth has been substantial, with a growth rate of 23% in 2023 and an even greater 27% in 2024. This level of expansion is a testament to the increasing demand for our services and the growing trust that the community places in us. However, this growth also means that we need to expand our physical capacity to continue meeting the needs of our patients and the community. With this continued rate of expansion, it is clear that our current infrastructure can no longer support the increased demand for services. A new, larger, and more advanced veterinary hospital will allow us to keep pace with the ever-growing needs of our clients, enhance our ability to deliver care, and maintain our commitment to animal welfare.

The establishment of this new hospital for Amici Cannis represents more than just an expansion of facilities; it is a step toward improving the lives of animals and humans alike. By investing in cutting-edge infrastructure and education, we are laying the foundation for a healthier future, one where veterinary care is accessible, comprehensive, and compassionate. Together, we can build a community where animals receive the care they deserve, and where humans are empowered to be responsible, empathetic stewards of the animals in their lives.
